The story of stubborn 5

As told by the stubborn one...

It all began on Saturday, March 18th, 2006 - our wedding day. You know the cheesy ritual where the bride and groom share a present before the actual ceremony? Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what I gave to Alex, but I'm sure it was shiny and expensive. Alex's gift to me was an already filled out business license that just needed to be signed and submitted. This was her way of saying that she believed in me and the talents I had and that I should go out on my own.

That's where the stubborn part comes in!

As amazing and thoughtful as this gift was, I never did anything with it - too stubborn to listen to my wife and try my own thing. Sure, I've worked on many projects over the years, even added new skills and worked to improve others. My career has been full of jobs that have allowed me to be creative. I've been a Marketing Manager, a Creative Director, I've worked for churches, for companies that design mining equipment and have also worked in the medical field. But I've never pursued my own thing.

In every marriage, there is that thing where your spouse can tell you something a million times, but until you hear it from someone else do you actually believe it. Guilty! So with the love and support of my wife, and the encouragement of family, friends and clients, here we go!

Oh yeah... and as for the 5...

It has a couple significant meanings to us. First, the number 5 symbolizes God's grace, goodness and favor - even in my stubbornness! And second, my life is filled with 4 amazing (less stubborn) people who love me, make me laugh, make me cry, inspire me, motivate me, give me reason to get up in the morning and help me sleep peaceful at night (except for the soon to be teenage daughter - that gives me nightmares)! 4 + 1 = Stubborn 5
